A lightweight and compact multi-functional assisted braking belay device designed for lead belaying, top-rope belaying, and single-rope controlled rappelling.
The overall structure balances ultra-light weight with durability. The housing is made of high-strength 7075 aerospace aluminum alloy, while the internal critical load-bearing cam and rope friction components are crafted from specialized hardened steel, which resists groove wear even under high-frequency rope friction. Feeding and taking in rope is smooth and responsive; when a climber falls or the main rope experiences sudden tension, the internal eccentric cam automatically rotates to clamp and lock the rope, providing critical assisted braking protection.
When controlling a descent, the ergonomic handle allows for progressive fine-tuning of the rappel speed; releasing the handle causes it to automatically spring back to the reset position and lock. The Black Shield model is specially equipped with a "folding handle" structure, which allows it to sit flush against the device body when stored, significantly reducing the space it takes up on a harness or inside an equipment bag. The housing features clear laser-engraved rope installation diagrams to prevent backward threading. The device weighs only about 153g, has an industrial-grade safe working load of 150kg, and has passed the authoritative XF494-2023 inspection standard.
Core Safety Warning (Braking Hand Rule)
-
Never let go of the brake-side rope: Whether lead belaying, top-rope belaying, or rappelling with the handle, the brake-side rope must always be held in the palm of your braking hand. Never let go!
-
Rope Diameter Compatibility: This device is only compatible with single ropes ranging from 8.0mm to 11.0mm. Please verify the rope diameter before use.
Key Features
-
Cam-Assisted Locking: Under tension, the internal cam rotates to sensitively grip the rope, achieving assisted braking and effectively reducing the load on the belayer's hand.
-
Auto-Reset "Release-to-Stop" Handle: Operation for fine-tuning descent is smooth. If an emergency occurs and the handle is fully released, the internal spring immediately forces it to the locked position, providing dual safety.
-
Folding Handle for Compact Storage (Black Shield Exclusive): Equipped with a folding operation handle that lays flat against the body when carrying, saving space and preventing snags on other gear.
-
7075 Aluminum Alloy + Hardened Steel Friction Core: A lightweight aluminum shell (approx. 153g) combined with a steel cam and friction rail offers a wear-resistant lifespan significantly superior to all-aluminum devices.
-
Laser-Engraved Rope Path Diagram: The side cover features clear graphics indicating the climber-side and brake-side, drastically reducing human error from improper rope threading.
-
XF494-2023 Certified: Rated for a 150kg working load, compliant with professional personal fall protection equipment standards for search and rescue.
